THEORY OF WAVES
Theory of Waves is a series of paintings on canvas using only one shade of blue and flat white paint.
Most of the works are large scale, (72"x48"), intended to engulf on viewing.
The paintings vacillate between literal interpretation of their subject, and complete abstraction.
This temporal climate creates a dynamic, unstableatmosphere to the work.
The series provokes the notion of gesture. Foregrounds and backgrounds are interchangeable,
as well as positive and negative space. 94% of the world is dark matter(unseeable, unkowable),
what we see is only a fragment of what is there.
The work relies heavily on ideas of flow that occur in: nature, science and art.
Ultimately they rest in a meditational space.
